Greetings!
Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas!
Mine was fantastic! I got to spend time with my family and friends, and I ate waaaay too much!
On Christmas eve I worked until 2pm, and then headed off to my sister’s house where the whole crew was.
My whole family was there except for my sister Sylvia who was in Texas. Isabella was for sure our entertainment this year. She is old enough to open gifts now (a little over a year), walks and speaks her own language. Jess claims it’s Hawaiian.
My brother-in-law got her this go cart thing that actually drives, the rest of us got her just about every toy imaginable, but all she cared about was this one box (it was an art kit - but she just wanted the box), and the animal crackers and these veggie stick things she loves that were in her stocking - which probably equaled about $6 total. Ah, the simple things!
My family exchanged gifts, and then we also did a white elephant gift. I got a box of wheels. The gift I gave was this brand new monster bucket of sidewalk chalk (which I have no clue why the hell I bought it) AND a set of exercise tapes I ordered on TV during my insomniac phase. Good times.
In the middle of all of that I got together with my best friends Genie and Kanya - and managed to squeeze in the Jinglebash!
I don’t even know where to begin with that. For starters, the weather was literally a blizzard. My 30 minute drive took freakin FOUR 1/2 HOURS!!! I felt like I would never get there. I posted my pix in the photo section, plus there is all kinds of backstage stuff on the B96 website (www.b96.com) but I am still floating over the good time I had.
For starters, I can never forsee a time when meeting celebs will get old. I am just as big of a fan as our listeners, if not more - and it’s like I turn around and David Archuleta is standing next to me! I was drinking with Brody Jenner in the VIP Lounge and watching the concert with him! I chatted with Jesse McCartney, and got an unusually warm welcome from Kevin Rudolf! (He called the station the day before and I talked with him. When I introduced myself and asked for a pic, he pulled me on him and ran his fingers thru my hair - AWKWARD!!!) It was so surreal!
The best part of the whole show was Chris Brown and Rihanna. Backstage I just stood there with my mouth open. Rihanna is even more beautiful in person. You see pics of celebs and just assume they’ve been airbrushed to perfection - but she really is that gorgeous and tall! They were super friendly and Chris was throwing snow at her that was on the car that they came in - just too cute.
We (the staff) stood on the side of the stage watching the show and when the 2 of them were on stage at the same time it was so loud and I knew we were all screaming/singing - but you couldn’t hear a thing! This is so dorky - but at one point, I looked around and caught myself in the best moment. Not even 10 feet in front of me are 2 of the biggest stars in the world performing, standing next to me were all my co-workers who I love, in the audience were some of my favorite people in the world - and for all ups and downs my year has had, personally and professionally - I was just straight-up over-the-moon happy at that moment, and I will always remember it.
As for the New Year that will be starting tomorrow…I know I want more of those moments. Every year, Fatty and I get in to the same argument. He says that people put too much pressure on this one particular day and that just because it’s a “new year” doesn’t mean that your slate is wiped clean.
While he is right, tomorrow symbolizes a jumping off point to make change. Do I think the way your night turns out will dictate your year? HELL NO! But there is something special about taking inventory on what life has thrown at you, good and bad, and making it better. I plan on dressing up, having lots of champagne (not driving of course) and dancing my ass off with 007, Fun Sarah, my friend Samantha and my neighbor Tommy - and of course everyone else at the party I’m going to. New Year’s day I’m off and will be spending the day with my family and Fatty…who is working and NYE and couldn’t hang with us cool kids.
Even though I’m all about lists…and have always been one to write at least 5 resolutions (your typical lose weight, save money, travel, etc)I only have one and I don’t need to write it down- I just want to enjoy my life.
The year started out with me letting my job work me, and ignoring my family and friends, only to be let go from my job, nearly losing my dad…and myself figuritively speaking. Knock on wood - every time a door closed a window opened - and some cases a giant ass wall fell down, and I ran the hell in!
I am surrounded by people (some old, some new) that believe in me and there is nothing more valuable than that. My family is healthy, my friends keep me grounded (and with cocktails), and my career is more than I ever could’ve imagined a year ago. For me not to enjoy all of that is ridiculous. I’ve worked and cried too hard to get there, so let’s pop the top already!
Wishing all of you a SAFE and happy New Year!!!
All My Love,
Bec

Yes, it’s true but not on purpose! I’ll explain in a sec!
Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! Mine was nice. I ate waaaaay too much but it was all good. I’ve been working everyday since 11/29 so that has been my main priority (which I’m loving!) - but I have squeezed in a little fun.
Anyhow, back to Akon…
He had a new album come out the week of Thanksgiving, and a new clothing line so he was going to be in Chicago that Friday for a big launch party. He was scheduled to call in to the station for an interview but called late…when I was on…and I had no clue who it was initially.
He called one of the private lines, which staff normally calls or the techs for remotes - so I just answered it “Hello” like I always do. There was a lot of noise, no response, so I said “anyone there?” I heard an unfamiliar man’s voice say “Hey baby,” and then there was another long pause and I could hear a ton of people in the background. I said hello again, and this time I got a “What’s up baby it’s me” - to which I so eliquantly replied, “Me? Who the hell is this?” and got, “What’s up baby this is Akon - I’m calling for my interview but I’m a little late.” Sweet baby Jesus, I was just a rag to Akon! So now I feel like a gigantic tool and am fearing my career may be flashing before my eyes. I talked to him for a sec asking how he was, blah3, then asked if I could put him on hold to see if we could squeeze him in during my show, or if we were going to reschedule (which was really just my professional way of saying I had no clue was going on and I’m going to call my boss) - he was super nice and had the most distinctive voice…but being all flustered, instead of hitting the ‘hold’ button, I hung up on him! OMG I’m so done!
Julian was there (he did the morning show that day) and laughed his ass off at me because I just opened the studio door and screamed “Somebody!” He told me to just do the interview if he called back and assured me that I wouldn’t get in trouble for it. I ended up talking to one of my bosses and he laughed at me too and said to reschedule if he calls back. I told him that I was going to lie and say I was someone else if he did.
Low and behold, 20 minutes later Akon called and apologized to me saying he was sorry that his phone must’ve cut out. Nice! I told him the plan and he was all for it. I wished him luck with his new album and clothing line, he called me “baby” about 45 more times (so there was no need to disclose my identity), and that was it. Everybody lived happily ever after!
I text Joe (Cicero, formerly of “The Joe and Rebecca Show”) afterwards because the Akon song “Smack that” (as in smack that *ss) reminds me of him. When his Mom was still alive it was the ringtone he had for her which always cracked me up. There was no meaning to it (which is what made it funny), I think he just bought a bunch of ringtones when he got a new phone and had a leftover one and assigned it to her. I txt “I hung up on Akon today” and he responded “Did he want to smack that?” Good times.
Anyhow, other things going on (less dramatic), I need to play catch-up w/a lot of my friends. I’m gonna try to pull that off tonight. I’ve been so bad about returning calls lately! Maybe that Akon incident scarred me?!
I did talk to my bff Kanya yesterday. She and I have been playing phone tag since Thanksgiving. She’s coming home on 12/19 w/her husband Edgar. Big up to Kanya and Edgar! I miss them and wish they were closer to home.
I’m having dinner with the girls tomorrow night. There are suppose to be 8 of us (which cuts my call list down to 4- I’ll just catch up with them in person), but someone always punks out. Let’s hope I’m not that girl! Ha!
Alright, well my free nights and weekends are a callin!
Have a great week! Dress warm!
XOXO,
Bec

WOO HOO! Holiday!
Hope everyone is doing well!
The tower in my area has been out apparently so my computer/internet has been working like it’s on dial-up. Then my cellphone wasn’t working. I nearly had a nervous breakdown. I was on the phone with tech support for an hour. Clearly, things are up and running now. Not what they should be, but at least I can get the basics done. I’m going to add that to my list of “thanks” this year.
Anyhow, lots of exciting things going on!
-My Dad is continuing to recover and is doing awesome.
-My family is all spending Thanksgiving together at my parents house. I’m really looking forward to it. All of us have been really busy lately and haven’t gotten to spend a lot of time together.
-Jess got a new job, and Eric got a promotion. They both work so hard so I’m really happy for them. The downfall is none of us have really seen them since Isabella’s birthday weeks ago. They will be at my parent’s tomorrow though!
-Isabella is apparently loving art and crafts time in school and Jess has a ton of stuff to show us. She is at such a fun age right now - she’s just starting to walk, she’s dancing to anything that sounds like a beat, and saying all kinds of gibberish and laughing her ass off - so whatever it is she’s saying, must be hysterical. Good for her. Ha!
-Lots of my friends who I don’t get to see very often are coming home for the holidays:
*My friend Monica from college is coming home in a few weeks. She lives in England and I haven’t seen her in a good 5 years.
*Joe, (Cicero -formerly of “The Joe and Rebecca Show”) will be home for 2 weeks in December.
*My friend Sebastian is also coming home for a few weeks. He’s gonna be performing at Zanies in Chicago so I’ll let you know the dates so you can go see him.
*Most importantly, my neice Katie will be home for the holidays after she graduates from college.
-And last, but for sure not least of the exciting things going on, me getting some more hours at B96!!!
I got a message from my friend Joel the other day and he was like isn’t it crazy to think of where you are now, and where you were a year ago? Um YEA?! I keep waiting to wake up.
While the station is looking for the new morning show, J-Niice (from Middays) has temporarily slid in to mornings, and I’m filling his spot. (Mon-Sat 10a-2p). I am VERY grateful for the opportunity, and honored that my bosses are confident in my abilities to give me this chance. I’ve always felt welcome there, and like I was a part of their family from the start, but now being there everyday, instead of just being there on the weekends (when most of the staff is gone) makes it seem real. I look forward to everyday I get to spend there.
So speaking of, I should probably head off to bed! I am on from 10a-2p…then off to get my Thanksgiving on!
Hope all of you have a safe and happy holiday!
Chat w/u soon!

Holy crap talk about crazy weather! It was like 70 degrees 4 days ago and now it’s just over 30! I’m not gonna lie I was slightly excited to break out my boots with the fur…but I could do with at least 2 more weeks of a few degrees higher!
Not much going on today. Just doing stuff around the house and updating the website - the pics, blog, Rebecca’s Rumors, etc. YEA ME!!! So take a gander!
As for the Fam everyone is doing good - knock on wood! Dad is recovering well from his surgery almost a month ago. He is getting around a lot easier now and hasn’t gotten in to trouble trying to pimp out his walker or doing lord only knows what with it. I’m sure he will, he’s just not done healing yet so he coming up with some ridiculous plan that will have my Mom ready to beat him. Just in time for the holidays! HA!
Some exciting news, I got my niece Katie’s graduation announcement in the mail! WOO HOO! She’s graduating early in December from FSU and will take a semester off to work and relax before she starts med school in the Fall. Her degree will be a Bachelors of Science in Biology with minors in Chemistry and Psychology - how cool is that? I’m sooo proud of her you have no idea!
ALSO - more exciting news: The B96 Jinglebash is on December 16th at the Allstate Arena so get your tickets at www.b96.com! There are some as low as $15! We are still announcing the line-up and it is amazing! Rihanna, Jesse McCartney, David Archuleta, Kevin Rudolf and Shontelle! We are giving away tix like crazy to so listen and win! I’m really excited for the show!
Well, that’s all for now! Hope all is well!
Take Care,

…and I have no costume!
I waited until the last minute last year too…but I knew what I wanted - this year not so much!
Work has 2 parties: Tonight @ Vision and Saturday @ John Barleycorn in Schaumburg. I work tonight so I MAY stop by after (depending on my mood) and wear something easily transformable from whatever I wear today.
My friend Sarah and I are going out Friday - and then the other party…so I do have a little more time- the clock is for sure ticking! I’m off to do some more shopping in a few!
So today is my sweet Isabella’s (my great niece) FIRST BIRTHDAY!!!! She had her party this past Saturday so I’ll have to post pics! I adore that child! She is so frigging funny. The best is - Jess wants her to be a girly girl soooo bad - Isabella is going to be a tomboy - just like her mother. She always puts me in a good mood. I hope she has the best day ever!
Today is also Joe’s son’s bday Adam. His wife Kelly and Jess gave birth the same day and were only rooms apart! It was so crazy to go to the hospital and see his family in the waiting room, and then to see his pics with my parents who wandered in from down the hall! Hope his day is super too!
And last but for sure not least is my girl ‘Sally’! Today is her big 3-0! We were not very close for a few years and have recently mended our ways. She has changed a lot and is having a more low-key day instead of the crazy Sally we all use to know. I gotta find out what her plans are so I can crash them! Ha ha!
ANYHOW - tonight I am filling in for Julian the Night Ninja from 7pm-Midnight so make sure you listen! We are giving away JINGLEBASH tix so maybe if you’re lucky I’ll have some for you!
Take Care and talk to you soon!

Hey!
It’s definitley fall! Can you believe it?
This will be a short blog - just checking in to see what’s up!
Jingle bash tickets are on sale now at www.b96.com so get them while they’re hot! Rihanna and Jesse McCartney have already been confirmed so hop to it! I can’t wait! Allstate Arena 12/16! Great early Christmas gift! Hope to see you there!
Also, 2 Halloween parties! City and Suburbs so grab the costume and come hang! I have no clue what I’m going to be - but I’ll deal with that later!
I’m off the next few days. My dad is having surgery tomorrow so my focus is him and my family. I don’t want to think about it or talk about it but it’s happening regardless of how I try to avoid it. I just pray that god willing, this will all be over and he will pull through with flying colors. I don’t have a ‘Plan B’. None of us do.
Anyhow, I’ve got a hot day of cleaning my house and paying bills. So off to start checking things off my list!
Take Care and Have a good day!

I just looked at my calendar and realized that my sweet Isabella (great niece) is going to be 1 YEAR OLD at the end of the month?! Isn’t that insane?!
Where the hell has the time gone?
Speaking of time…I am having trouble sleeping again! It sucks worse than anything. My body is tired and I lie down and go through the motions and NOTHING! The last time I had a really good sleep was about 2 weeks ago and tequila was involved and I DO NOT want to revert back to that. Thanks Mark and Tommy!
Anyhow, today I’m off and doing some random errands. I want to get everything done before next week because my Dad is going in for surgery on the 16th. That is what I’m writing off my ‘no sleep’ as - stress.
We’ve known for a while that his surgery was coming up - but it’s something you don’t want to think about. When I start to fall asleep I have these horrible nightmares about my Dad. His doctors assured us that there is an 80% success rate for the procedure, but it’s the 20% that is kicking my ass. I was talking with my old friend Sally last night - her father is battling prostate cancer - and it’s the scariest thing in the world to see your parents as anything less than invincible. Life is nothing what I would’ve imagined one year ago…but I’m still standing right? Not sleeping, but standing! HA! Can’t have it all I suppose.
Other than that, everything else is going great! B96 is awesome! We are planning a Jingle Bash (just like the Summerbash, but in December) and I am so frickin excited! Get to www.b96.com and sign up for the alerts for when we start announcing the peformers! GOOD STUFF!!!
Some other things - my best friend got married last weekend. The best wedding I’ve ever been to (my pics are on my myspace) and I’m broadcasting from Lake Zurich on Saturday so I’m close to home and you should come and see me! DO IT!!!
Well that is all for now! I’m off to the gym to get my day started!
Have a good one!

Hi!
Hope everyone is doing well! Long time no blog, I know! But I’m here and making it happen so it’s all good!
Here’s a quick recap of what’s been going down….
-Getting ready for my best friend’s wedding on 10.4.08!
-My Dad and sister had a birthday so we went to last Thursday’s Cubs game which was AWESOME!!!
-My other best friend Genie got married and it was one of the best weddings I’ve ever been to! It was perfect!
-Kelly and Sophie are offically gone and my house is MY HOUSE only and it’s fabulous. Everything just got repainted and their was a snaffoo with the furniture I bought so it’s on back order but will be here soon enough!
-My niece Katie is graduating early in December and will start Medical School in the fall
-Abelardo is in the fishbowl in the sky. He floated away on 8/17…and there is a new Abelardo now. Not quite as handsome, but I love him too.
-B96 is wonderful
-Isabella is gonna be ONE next month!!!
That’s pretty much the highlights!
On the burner…
I’m eagerly waiting for all my friggin furnature to come in before I start drilling holes in the walls and hanging stuff up…my patience is wearing thin though!
I’m really excited for Kanya’s wedding. I was joking with my boss saying I won’t need anymore days off I PROMISE because there is no one left to get married! I love weddings and I’d cut my arm off for Kanya (and Genie), but i’m all wedding’ed out. No more thanks!
My friend Sebastian is going to be in town for like 6 weeks so I’m really excited! He’s going to be performing at the Zanies in Chicago in December so buy your tickets now before they sell out!
That’s pretty much it for right now! I have to post my pics from the Cubs game. My parents were so cute. ALL they do is watch baseball now that they are retired. My parents have been in this area for over 40 years and have never been to a game so they wre like little kids. After the year we’ve had with my Dad health-wise it was the best feeling in the world to see him happy and enjoying himself - even for just a few hours. I know I will cherish that day for the rest of my life. He was so happy and full of energy he didn’t even need a wheel chair. I get all choked up just thinking about it. All of us think of our parents as invincible in a way and to have that change is so scary (for lack of a better word). I’m just happy that he had this day and that all of us were there to share it with him.
Take Care and Have a Good Day!
XOXO,
Bec

HI!
Hope everyone is having a wonderful week! I just updated “Rebecca’s Rumors” so make sure you check it out! Hot stuff! I’m trying something new - instead of putting the “RR’s Red Hot of the Day” I’m leaving stuff up from past days so people can catch up or go back and reread stuff. I think it’s working out better?! Your thoughts?
My weekend was good. Worked, hung out…but something that’s been stuck in my head was the wedding I went to. It’s really made me sit back and think about things.
The wedding was my friend Fatty’s dad’s wedding on Friday. His dad and new wife seem really happy and I hope it works out. The backstory is his parents were married 32 years and then divorced. His Mom remarried about 2 months after. It’s been about 3 years since it happened and it’s just so hard on him.
It’s funny because you think being older (he’s 32 now) it would make it easier, but he told me that he wanted everything his parents had and then to see it fall apart so easily after so long makes him think that nothing is meant to last. He doesn’t speak to his Mom anymore (loooong story) and he and his dad are super tight. He is really worried that his Dad will get hurt again. He’s only known the woman a few months, and she’s been married 3 times before. It’s not that he didn’t want him to get married or that he doesn’t like the lady - he just wanted him to wait a while. What’s the rush right? The woman really does seem great, but when they were exchanging vows (Fatty was the best man), I could see Fatty wiping away tears. It sucked for lack of a better phrase, but it is what it is ya know? He knows his dad is a grown man who makes his own decisions, he was “being a good son” and just standing by his side - at least that’s what I believe and kept telling him.
What a weird situation right? I can’t get it out of my head for some reason. I feel where he is coming from but I just have a different outlook I suppose. Maybe it’s wishy-washy and unrealistic - but all I know is ride or die…MAKE IT WORK!(very Tim Gunn I know) My parents have been married 47 years, my oldest sister Patty has been married 27 years, my other sister Sylvia almost 14. I’d like to think IF I ever get married it will be forever.
I’ve never been in a rush to get married, or felt pressure because “all my friends were doing it”. When and if the time is right it will happen. Fatty’s dad was engaged to another woman a year after his parents divorced. He just wanted to get married so bad it didn’t matter to who (the woman was HORRIBLE - so wrong). I don’t get that. Three months after that relationship ended, he met the woman he married…and then married her right away. I guess if you know, you just know but, I just don’t get it?!
I’ve seen girlfriends (and guy friends) rush in to ‘the next step’ because they felt they were getting old or their family was pressuring them. That’s a luxury I never had to deal with. My sisters were so much older than me that by the time I wasn’t a baby anymore, my sister was having them so there was never any pressure to shoot out kids or wrangle me up a guy to help my Dad do repair work. Done and done already thanks to both my sisters…and now Jess who is 27 and doing the marriage/family thing.
Genie and Kanya (my best friends) are getting married and their relationships are AWESOME! As couples they just have this energy about them - they have fun together, have great careers, beautiful homes, they travel, and their in-laws are so much fun! I am so happy for them. I WILL NOT settle down unless I can have that for myself ya know? Who says by a certain age you need to have 2.5 kids and a corner lot? I am extremely independent and I can’t imagine compromising that. The man would have to be borderline superhero or something. I can cook and sew and all that crap…but can you seem me married? I’m the best aunt ever…but can you see ME pregnant?! BARF! It’s just not me.
What is me is LIVING BY MYSELF! (Switching subjects) I am so all about having my house solo. Kelly and Sophie have been out since the last week in July. It’s odd because we lived together 5 years…but it rules. Remember a loooong time ago when Joe shot that cribs at my house? I want to do a new one, but they still have to paint and my new furnature isn’t being delivered until after the fact so that will be on hold.
Anyhow, I just realized what time it is and have to wrap this up! Katie (my neice) is going back to school on Monday so I think I’m going to go stalk her. I won’t get to see her until December!
BUT, she is graduating so that will be awesome
Plus, my friend CB007 gets back from Cali today so I want to hear how his job interview went.
Have a wonderful day and talk to you soon!
XOXO,
Reb

Hey look at me blogging like a month later than my past entry! I suck. I talked to Joe (Cicero, formerly of the “Joe and Rebecca Show”) and he said that one of our listeners (Hi Barbara!) asked him when I was going to blog. Too funny. Honestly, I’ve been meaning to do it just about everyday, and update the website - but life is pulling me in a bunch of different directions so I’ve been trying to keep up!
You’ll be happy to know that THE WHOLE website has been updated - Rebecca’s Rumors, my calendar, etc - so catch up and I’ll keep up!
Anyhow, my life has been filled with weddings, weddings, weddings - and no none of them have been my own rest assured!
Both of my best friends are getting married this summer so NO JOKE - EVERY weekend has been filled with work @ B96…and then a shower, bachelorette party or planning - seriously! This has been going on since my last entry! EVERY weekend. The good thing is that Kanya (one of the brides - my best friend - who lives in D.C but is getting married in Chicago) has been home every weekend planning and going to stuff for Genie’s Wedding which is 8/23.
Aside from those 2 weddings, my weekdays have been filled with my good friend Tracy moving to Alabama yesterday (she is engaged and getting married in December - her fiance is a fighter pilot stationed out there), my friend Sarah moving 2 weeks ago (Tracy’s roommate), Kelly moving out last week, my good friend CB may be moving to Cali, and Fatty’s dad is getting married and he’s freaking out!
So much is going on I was joking around saying I had no idea how I was doing because I’ve been playing 75 supporting roles!
What else can I share? B96 is fabulous - I’m so happy and am settled in well. I’ve been hearing from some old XLC listeners a lot lately who didn’t know where I went. It feels good!
Some other tidbits, I’ve been filling in here and there at 97 ZOK in Rockford - no changes so don’t panic, just helping out some old friends in need, spending time w/my niece Katie who is still home from College (FSU), trying to see Isabella (who is 9mos and starting to walk), and trying to squeeze in some cocktails and time with family and friends.
Life is good - no complaints, just the question, “Where does the time go”!
This weekend my friend Sebastian will be in town, Fatty’s Dad is getting married tomorrow so I am going to be his date/support system, and then B96 both Saturday and Sunday! Yippee!
I put up some pics on my myspace so check them out! I’ll have to get them on my site for those who aren’t on it.
That’s about it! Hope everyone is good! I know I haven’t been overly attentive to the site but I’m just trying to adjust to all the changes!
Take care and talk to you soon - PROMISE!!!
XOXO,
Reb
